It is no secret that fondant tastes nasty. I know it can make a cake look really beautiful, and there are some techniques that require a person to use fondant - but I try to avoid it when I can. I would much rather eat a cake smothered in buttercream than a pretty fondant cake any day. So for this cake, we skipped the fondant, and went straight for the good stuff. A Vanilla Vanilla cake stacked with rustic Ombre Buttercream Tiers. I kind of love it.
