Today I am posting the last cake of the 1989 Cake Series. I have had so much fun creating these lyric inspired cakes over the past few weeks, and this last one was no different. Today’s cake was inspired by the last song on the album, Clean…
Let the flood carry away all my pictures of you
The water filled my lungs, I screamed so loud but no one heard a thing
Rain came pouring down when I was drowning
That’s when I could finally breathe
And by morning gone was any trace of you,
I think I am finally clean
The whole song is really beautiful, and I think the cake turned out pretty well. But my favorite part is definitely the stunning cake topper. My girl Becca over at Suite Paperie makes custom wooden cake toppers – and when she heard I was making some Taylor Swift inspired cakes, she decided to make me my very own Clean cake topper! It’s so cool, right?! I am obsessed. She is basically a design wizard, so if you have any need for a totally awesome and unique cake topper (cough your wedding cough), then hit her up.
Being the end of the 1989 cake series, this post also marks the end of all the T Swift talk that has been happening here on Sprinkles for Breakfast…at least for a little while. But before I do that, I wanted to tell you one more story. A few weeks ago, I had a dream that I was on the Ellen show and Taylor Swift was preforming.
I was just sitting in the audience, minding my own business when all of a sudden, my cakes started to appear on the big screen. Somehow, Ellen had found out about the cakes and thought it would be great to have me come meet Taylor and talk about them. (Quick Side Note – I understand that this is all very unrealistic…but remember, this was a dream people! Stop judging me. How am I supposed to control the craziness my brain comes up with while I am unconscious??) So I came down on stage and Ellen was like “Are you so excited?!” And I was like “Actually Ellen, I am a little upset.” Ellen, looking quite confused at this point, said “What? Why?” And then I said “Well first of all, I didn’t brush my hair this morning. So now here I am, on national television, with hair that looks like some kind of creature is living in it. Secondly, I have gone over what I would say to Taylor Swift and how I would convince her to be my friend a million times over in my head. And now, I am sitting here…and I can’t remember any of my material.” Basically, I blew it. Way to go Lindsay.
All Ellen DeGeneres dreams aside….I really have loved coming up with the designs for these cakes, and I think a lot of people enjoyed seeing how the lyrics creatively came to life. But, the most important thing I am taking away from this entire experience is that if I ever do go to an Ellen show, I will definitely be brushing my hair beforehand.
