sunflower cake

Inspiration is a peculiar thing. It comes from everywhere and nowhere at the same time, and it is completely personal. Something that inspires one person, can do nothing for the next.

Every week I try to look for new inspiration when creating my cakes. Sometimes it is something as simple as a texture, and or as powerful as a Taylor Swift song. It just depends. This week, my inspiration came from a bouquet of sunflowers a friend sent me.

I know we officially transitioned to fall this week, and the sunflower is technically a summer bloom, but it is 100 degrees at my house and without any air conditioning it still feels like summer. So we are going with it. Happy Friday everyone!

I might be the only person in the history of the world that has ever been grounded from baking. That's right. When I was a teen, it wasn't the computer, or the phone or the tv that got taken away. For me, it was the unsalted butter.

I am so glad you like it! It is very similar to the Gold Painted Cake I did a few years ago. You can find the full tutorial here: http://www.sprinklesforbreakfast.com/sprinkles-for-breakfast/2013/11/25/happy-1st-birthday-sprinkles-for-breakfast
