vma cakes

I know I normally don't post cakes until Friday, but I was too excited about this series to wait another day. As some of you may know, I recently did a series of cakes based on Taylor Swift Lyrics. I absolutely loved making these TSwift confections, so when asked me to do a series of cakes inspired by the VMA Video of the Year nominees, I was ecstatic! I LOVE music videos - and I am not going to lie, I am pretty excited to see what kind of shenanigans Miley Cyrus has planned as the host of this year's VMAs. I have a feeling things are going to get a little weird. But until then, we will focus on the songs nominated for the top award of the night. Here they are...

1. 7/11 by Beyonce

Man it feel like rollin' dice, man it feel like rollin' dice
Seven eleven, seven eleven, seven twice, man seven twice

2. Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran

So honey now
Take me into your loving arms
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars

3. Alright by Kendrick Lamar

Do you hear me, do you feel me? We gon' be alright...
I keep my head up high
I cross my heart and hope to die

4. Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars

If we show up, we gon' show out
Smoother than a fresh jar of skippy

5. Bad Blood by Taylor Swift ft. Kendrick Lamar

Now we've got problems
And I don't think we can solve 'em
You made a really deep cut
And baby, now we've got bad blood, hey!

Lindsay Nathanson - Baker and Author

I might be the only person in the history of the world that has ever been grounded from baking. That's right. When I was a teen, it wasn't the computer, or the phone or the tv that got taken away. For me, it was the unsalted butter.

What the hell? These are unreal! Such great ideas! I love them all! How did you make the Skippy Jar label??

Lindsay Nathanson

Thank you! I had so much fun coming up with the designs. I printed the skippy label on wafer paper with edible ink!
