Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and prepare a 8" cake pan with non-stick cooking spray and parchment paper.
In a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, combine butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs, vanilla extract and salt. Beat until well mixed.
Add flour, baking soda and mix until just combined.
Stir in chocolate chips and candy pieces.
Put dough into cake pan and use an offset spatula to smooth the dough and make it even.
Bake for 25 - 30 minutes.
Set on a wire rack to cool.
